2024 Council District 14 Election

It’s election year! The seat representing Little Tokyo in the 14th District of the Los Angeles City Council is once again on the ballot, with incumbent Councilmember Kevin De León facing 7 challengers. The primary is on Tuesday, March 5th, and ballots have been mailed out.

The Little Tokyo Community Council and The Rafu Shimpo invited the following candidates running for Council District 14 to answer questions on issues impacting Little Tokyo: Councilmember Kevin de León (incumbent), Wendy Carrillo, Ysabel Jurado, and Miguel Santiago. We received responses from three of those candidates (Councilmember Kevin de León (incumbent), Wendy Carrillo, Ysabel Jurado). A fourth candidate participated after the initial outreach to the aforementioned candidates, and the Rafu generously printed a separate article focusing on that candidate’s answers (Nadine Momoyo Diaz). Also running are Genny Guerrero, Teresa Y. Hillery, and Eduardo “Lalo” Vargas.

LTCC also once again put together our Little Tokyo Community Platform, outlining our priorities, issues, and concerns for the neighborhood, and the Candidates Questionnaire asked candidates to respond to this platform.

BONUS ARTICLE! CD 14 Candidate Nadine Momoyo Diaz completed the questionnaire after the original article was printed, and The Rafu Shimpo was generous enough to print a separate article to share out her answers as well.
