Matching Gifts
-
Many companies offer a matching gift program, which encourages charitable giving or volunteerism amongst their employees and retired employees.
Ask your employer if they offer a matching gift program that can double (even triple!) your donation. Some companies will make matching contributions to organizations their employees support. If you are unsure if your company has a matching gift program, it is worth asking your employer. For additional information, please contact info@littletokyola.org.
Qualified Charitable Distribution
-
If you must take a required minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA, then you should know your withdrawal is taxable. Using a portion of your RMD to make a charitable gift – called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) – may be a tax-smart choice. Starting at age 70 ½ you can direct a QCD contribution to a public charity, like Little Tokyo Community Council and your QCD will reduce your RMD with no income taxes for you. You can donate up to $111,000 in QCD contributions in 2026. Please note this amount typically changes every year, or every couple of years.
-
Even if you do not itemize your income tax deductions, you still receive a tax benefit from a QCD contribution because it avoids taxable income. And, if you don’t need or want all of your RMD, a QCD contribution can help satisfy your distribution requirement without adding to your taxable income.

Legacy Giving
Leave a legacy with LTCC for a lasting legacy to protect and preserve this historic Little Tokyo for future generations. Legacy giving is a transfer of assets to LTCC during one’s lifetime or as part of an estate plan. It is a win-win approach to philanthropic donations that support LTCC and can benefit you now or in the future. Consider including LTCC as part of your estate plan. Click here to learn more.
Cryptocurrency
Donating your cryptocurrency to LTCC supports our work and the youth we serve while also having potential tax benefits. Giving cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, and you will not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount.
Cryptocurrency donations are converted into U.S. dollars and sent to us as cash so we can put your gift to work immediately. Donating cryptocurrency can help you save on taxes, and allow you to make a bigger impact.
Cryptocurrency donations to a 501(c)(3) organization, like LTCC, may receive the same tax treatment as stocks and property. Please contact your tax or financial advisor for more information.
