Regional Connector Construction - Street Closures (Sept 2022)

Little Tokyo/Arts District Area
Full street closures for restoration work on 1st St, Central Av, and Temple St. are planned on the following dates:

• 7:00 AM, Monday, September 26 through 8:59 PM, Wednesday, September 28, a 72-hour continuous closure, and

• 7:00 AM to 8:59 PM Thursday, September 29.

The road closures will take place on the following streets:

• 1st St, Alameda St to San Pedro St, and

• Central Av, 1st St to 2nd St.

 Please note:

• Activities include set up of traffic control, k-rail removal, grinding, paving, and striping. 

• Traffic detour signs will direct motorists to alternative routes. 

• Pedestrian, business, and local access will be maintained. 

• RCC will be performing a simultaneous closure of westbound 1st St, from Alameda St to Vignes St to install safety equipment at the 1st St portal as restoration work takes place.  

At the completion of this work, RCC will have restored the roadway back to its pre-construction condition, completing work in the center of Little Tokyo’s business district.  When completed, the new Metro rail extension will provide a one-seat ride for travel across LA County.  Passengers will be able to travel between Azusa and Long Beach, and between East Los Angeles and Santa Monica, without transferring lines.
