Keep the fun going! Explore the historic neighborhood of Little Tokyo, spend time shopping with some special promotions at our local small businesses, and check out the events being hosted by other community partners. The following promotions & events will be taking place on Saturday, September 9, 2023:


LTCC: Pop-Up Merch Shop

Far East Lounge • 353 1st St • 12:30PM - 4:30PM

The Little Tokyo Community Council will be offering a 1-day only pop-up shop at the Far East Lounge! Come check-out our seasonal hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, pins & stickers!

 

LTSC: Little Tokyo Artist Festival

Terasaki Budokan • 249 S Los Angeles St • 11AM - 4PM

The Little Tokyo Artist festival is a gathering of local Little Tokyo artist residents who will be sharing & selling their artwork and experiences to the public. This will be a family friendly event that will include an awesome raffle & raffle prizes, food, musical performances and much more. There will also be performances by local DTLA musical artists and an opportunity to get on the mic and sing some Karaoke! Support local resident artists and join us for a fun-filled day of activities!

 

JANM Book Club: Evergreen with Naomi Hirahara

JANM • 100 N Central Ave • 2PM - 3:30PM

Join Edgar Award–winning author, Naomi Hirahara, for a dive into the history of Little Tokyo through her newest book, Evergreen. Evergreen, the follow-up to the Mary Higgins Clark Award–winning Clark and Division, is the story of a Japanese American nurse’s aide who navigates the dangers of post-World War II and post-Manzanar life as she attempts to find justice for a broken family. Hirahara’s presentation will include photographs from 1946 Little Tokyo, Boyle Heights, and Burbank trailer parks. This event will include an optional self-guided tour of Little Tokyo landmarks featured in the book.

 

Geffen Contemporary at MOCA: KINK OUT: EPHEMERA Opening Celebration

The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA • 152 N Central Ave • 2PM - 6PM

Kink Out is a bi-coastal collective that unites people of diverse identities with lived experience in BDSM culture through art, activism, community organizing, and conversation. EPHEMERA opens with an afternoon of conversation, music, food, and celebration, presented in collaboration with Cruise LA.

 

JACCC: Ikenobo Anniversary Exhibition

JACCC's George J. Doizaki Gallery • 244 San Pedro St # 505 • 11AM - 4PM

JACCC will present the Ikenobo Los Angeles Chapter’s 65th Anniversary Ikebana Exhibition from September 9 - 10th in the George J. Doizaki Gallery. Ikenobo is the oldest and largest school of ikebana. For this special exhibition, the 45th Headmaster Sen’ei Ikenobo will come to California to participate. This event is free and open to the public.
